Verified there's not a forgotten wireless keyboard receiver or something plugged in (I've seen something like this happen before where the user used to have a wireless keyboard but left the receiver plugged in and just shoved the keyboard in a drawer then later set a book on top of the keyboard, but that was not the case here) Safe mode (problem continues to occur even in safe mode) Tried with a different wired keyboard/mouse (problem still occurs) Started Windows 10 with nothing plugged in but the keyboard, mouse, and monitor (this user also had a Canon printer and one of those NeatDesk scanners so I unplugged them). Updated all Dell drivers (including chipset) to the latest ones listed on Dell's site Unplugging keyboard/mouse (I did this while the Edge icon was rapidly flashing, and it didn't stop even after I'd unplugged both). If I need to reboot the system, I have to get to the command prompt (via Windows Key and R then cmd) and use shutdown /r command, as trying to click the power button in Start doesn't work because this problem seems to occur in there too. It doesn't seem to happen in Notepad, as I can fire up Notepad and type in it all day long. While this is going on, mouse/keyboard input both act funky for obvious reasons. Windows rapidly flash around the borders like there's some kind of key stuck. That said, the problem also seems to occur when I do some various tasks around Windows 10 (going to Settings, etc, acts like there's a stuck key). When I say keyboard/mouse input are difficult, it's like.normal typing doesn't do anything, and if I hold down the A key, A will very slowly start appearing on the screen. I installed Firefox and can run it all day long with zero problems (I used Firefox for downloading some troubleshooting tools). I can close Edge and reopen it, and the problem takes a minute or so to come back. I can open Edge and browse a bit, but then it starts becoming difficult to do any keyboard/mouse input, and both the Edge icon in the taskbar and the border around the Edge window are rapidly flashing (like focus is changing in/out of it or something). It only seems to happen in certain apps though.įor example, Edge. First of all, the problem (system specs/details/other thoughts and things I've already tried are at the bottom of this post): I have a Windows 10 machine that acts, at random, like a key is stuck. I'm starting to run out of ideas on this one. I apologize for how lengthy this post is, but the list of details and stuff I've already tried is pretty extensive.
